Man killed after he flees police; crashes car into tree in Kansas City

One person was killed after an attempt to flee police on Saturday in Kansas City, Mo.  According to police reports, the victim was the target of a traffic stop for speeding near Gregory Boulevard and Brooklyn Avenue but when the officer approached the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle sped off.  Police pursued the driver and eventually lost chase after the driver crossed eastbound across U.S. 71 Highway.  Soon after eye witnesses called in the fatal car crash, saying the victim hit a tree at South Benton Avenue and 68th street near Swope Park.
