Man suffers critical injuries after hit and run crash in Kansas City

A hit and run accident in the Kansas City jazz district on Saturday morning sent one person to the hospital with what police describe as critical injuries.  The accident happened near the intersection of 19th and Vine in the historic KC Jazz area when a stolen SUV collided with another car during a police pursuit.  According to police reports, officers were running radar in the neighborhood when they noticed the SUV driving erractically.  When they attempted to pull the suspected vehicle over, the SUV instead sped away, lost control and hit another car.  The driver of the second vehicle suffered the critical injuries.

The SUV involved in the accident was reported stolen nearly ten minutes after the accident.  The owner claims the vehicle was stolen over night and then returned in a damaged condition.
