A man was stuck in his vehicle overnight following an accident that occurred around 11:30 p.m. on 24/40 HIghway in Leavenworth County.
According to the victim a deer crossed the highway in front of his vehicle causing the crash. As he attempted to dodge the animal his vehicle went off the side of the road, down an embankment, through a fence, over shallow water and came to rest in a field.
The man wan knocked unconscious until 6:30 a.m. when he placed a call to his wife. She then call 911 who notified the highway patrol. A helicopter was called in around 7:30 a.m. and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. According to authorities the man's injuries were not life-threatening and he was alert and talking to his rescuers.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into this incident as there were no brake marks where the the man reported he went off the road.
