Missouri Governor Jay Nixon says he has learned an important lesson - Wear Your Seat Belt. Nixon was recently involved in an accident in which he was the passenger in the back seat of a highway patrol car in Jefferson City. Nixon was not wearing his seat belt when the patrol car was hit from behind.
The governor was taken to an area hospital for treatment of neck pain and was treated and released. The governor explained that he was reaching for a briefcase on the other side of the vehicle when the accident occurred, but also stated that he should have been wearing a seat belt. In Missouri back seat passengers are not legally required to buckle up.
Said Nixon, "I would recommend that all Missourians - including me - wear a seat belt whenever available."
