If you text and drive in the state of Missouri, your right to do so is about to change. Lawmakers will meet to discuss legislation to pass a new ban on texting while driving. Currently, Missouri has limited texting laws but would like to expand it to apply to everyone. Under current Missouri laws, prohibits anyone under the age of 21 to text or read a text message while driving. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, they wrote over 80 citations for texting and driving between August of 2009 and December of 2010 alone.
Right now, 31 state have laws banning all drivers from sending texts, including Kansas, in which a full time ban went into effect on January 1, 2011.
