Missouri Power Plant Worker Falls - Trapped 60 Feet in Air With Injury

Emergency crews were called to a Missouri City Power Plant to rescue a worker who was injured while working more than 60 feet in the air.  Randy Reynolds, an Independence Power & Light employee, was attempting to repair some equipment when he fell.  Reynolds was climbing stairs and going through a door to get to the necessary repair when his foot got stuck causing the fall, injuring his leg. 

Firefighters carried Reynolds down 5 flights of stairs, then rushed him to Liberty Hospital for treatment.  Liberty Fire division chief, Dave Walker, reported that Reynold's injuries appear to be minor. 

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been called into perform a complete investigation into the accident.  

Emergency responders were sent from Excelsior Springs, Liberty and Kansas City to assist in the rescue.
