The Kansas City Strip will have a trial run on Friday, March 26th and will officially kick off on April 10th. The Kansas City Strip is a new trolley system that will link the city's entertainment districts. The trolleys will service an 11 mile segment of Kansas City starting at 75th Street in Waldo, going through Brookside, the Country Club Plaza, Westport, Martini Corner, the Power & Light District and 18th and Vine Jazz District. The trolleys will run on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. and cost $15 per person for a single evening pass. A $35 unlimited monthly pass is also available.
What makes this system different from other transportation systems is it is focused on Kansas City citizens, as well as visitors to the area. Organizers, Bill George and Bill Nigro, hope suburbanites who might not normally go to some of the city's entertainment districts because of crime, driving hassles, DUI checkpoints or parking costs will use this new system.
