Oak Grove family trying to cope after daughter paralyzed in sledding accident

A 13 year-old girl remains hospitalized following a tragic sledding accident that has left her paralyzed from the waist down.  The accident happened at Frick Park in Oak Grove, Missouri a couple of weeks ago when the victim and a friend were sledding using a two-person tube.

What started out as an all-in-good-fun crash quickly proved to be something else.  Originally, the girl's father thought his daughter was laughing upon crashing but quickly he realized she was actually screaming for help and that she couldn't feel her legs.

Doctors at this point are unsure if the 8th grade girl will ever be able to walk again.  The parents of the victim, Shelly and Johnny Hartwig, are now dealing with the reality of having a child who may be in a wheel chair for the rest of her life.

A charitable fund has been set up to help the Hartwig Family through this difficult time.
