One person was killed in a fatal trucking accident caused by a motorist driving in the wrong direction. The fatal crash happened on Interstate 10 when the wrong way driver ollided head-on with a semi-truck on June 21, 2011 in Palm Desert, California. The California Highway Patrol says, a Honda Accord was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the freeway before crashing head-on into the big rig, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.
The driver of the Honda was killed instantly in the fatal trucking accident while the driver and a passenger in the semi-truck were not injured. The CHP will continue to investigate the cause of the accident to determine if alcohol or illegal drugs was a factor in the wrong way accident.
