A worker was killed and three others were seriously injured in an on-the-job construction accident at a construction site in New York this week. The accident happened on Monday January 10, 2011 near Grand Avenue in Queens, NY. According to news reports, the accident happened as the men were building a 20 ft. high wall out of cinder blocks. The men were standing on a scaffolding, helping pour cement on the stack of blocks when the wall gave out and collapsed.
27 year-old Gerardo Escalona suffered a cardiac arrest during the collapse and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronouced dead. Three other workers suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in the work related accident. The men were hospitalized where they were listed in stable condition.
