One Teen Killed, Four Others Injured in Rollover Crash in Basehor, Kansas

One teen was killed and another was seriously injured in a car accident in Leavenworth County last week. The fatal teen car wreck happened on State Avenue in Basehor, Kansas around 3:30 p.m. Thursday July 7, 2011. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 16 year-old girl was killed in the crash. According to eye witnesses, two vehicles had changed lanes back and forth a couple of times before one of the vehicles finally lost control.

The car overcorrected in both directions before careening into a ditch and hitting a rock embankment, before launching into the air and crash landing on the top of the vehicle-- about 400 feet from where it originally lost control. The four other passengers injured in the crash were hospitalized but their injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
