Road Worker Bumped by Vehicle While Directing Traffic in Overland Park

A contruction worker directing traffic in Overland Park near the corner of College Boulevard and Switzer Road was bumped by an angry motorist.  The incident occurred about 1:30 Monday afternoon.  The road worker was directing traffic through a construction zone when she allowed a truck to go through, but stopped the next car in line.  As the worker tried to redirect the car, the driver of the car, apparently angry over the delay, bumped the construction worker.  The driver then backed the car up and bumped the construction worker again.  Finally, when the driver backed up again for another bump, the road worker let the car pass.

Police said the worker was not hurt in the incident.  The worker told reporters at the scene that she feared for her life and just tried to keep her balance as the driver kept bumping her trying to get around the road block.  Other workers at the site were able to get the license plate number of the car, but police are having a difficult time tracking down the driver because it was a rental car.  When police are able to identify the driver, the driver will face felony charges of aggravated battery.
