St. Petersburg Boy Killed By Disney Bus

Posted on Jun 28, 2010

In Orlando, Florida, a little boy from St. Petersburg was vacationing with his parents, when he suddenly collided with a Disney Studios Bus. The only son of fifty-year-old Kelly Brubaker and fifty-six-year-old Dick Brubaker, the little boy's parents were heard screaming and crying "They killed my son."

The incident occurred during a family vacation at Walt Disney's Fort Wilderness Park.  The little boy was riding his bicycle.  He was accompanied by another child, a little girl of eleven years old.  It was half past one'o'clock in the afternoon and only a few hours into their family vacation when he and the other child were cycling up Big Pine Drive when they were faced with the bus.

The problem with this story is authorities are not sure who to point the finger at.  According to the Brubaker family, they witnessed the moments leading up to their son's death, and they reported that he was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk.  The claim that out of nowhere, the large bus drove up onto the sidewalk where their son was riding.  The excited little boy was just trying to explore the new campgrounds.  It is suspected that he saw the bus at the last second, mistakenly swerved in the wrong direction, and collided with the large vehicle.  Upon impact, he was thrown beneath the moving vehicle and was run over by the rear tire on the right side of the bus.

As soon as emergency medical personnel arrived the little boy was already pronounced dead.  His parents were torn up over the fact that they had just lost their son, on a family vacation.  The mother recalls that only moments before the little boy took off to explore, he was filled with excitement and had pronounced that day to be "the best day ever."

The Brubakers have several other witnesses to confirm many parts of their story.  But on the other side of this heart-wrenching story, the Highway Patrol of the State of Florida and several eyewitnesses believe that although the bus did in fact ride up onto the sidewalk, it seems that the boy did in fact swerve off into the road.

The driver of that bus had been an employee at Disney for thirty years.  He has yet to be charged and is still under investigation.
