Teen Girl Killed when Out of Control Vehicle Crashes into Apartment

A 14-year-old girl was killed in a tragic auto accident when a vehicle slammed into her Chicago home, killing the girl and seriously injuring her brother. The fatal auto accident happened on Monday, September 26, 2011 when the vehicle crashed through the window of a basement apartment at the 800 block of South 19th Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.

Chicago police say the driver of the vehicle was in an altercation which involved gunfire just a couple of blocks away moments the fatal crash.

The victim of the accident was apparently sleeping on the couch when the time of the crash. Her 12 year-old brother was also injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment on serious injuries.

Police did not make public the extent of the driver's injuries and have requested the assistance of the public to help in the investigation and the apprehension of the suspect who fled the scene of the accident.
