Toddler Killed, Three Children Seriously Injured in Drunk Driving Accident

A toddler was killed and three other children were seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident on Monday, May 30, 2011 near 75th Street in Chicago, Illinois.

Reports from the scene say that the accident was caused when the driver of an Oldsmobile Cutlass lost control and slammed into a guard rail. Chicago Police believe alcohol was a factor in the wreck.

An 11-month-old child was killed in the crash. Three other children in the vehicle were ejected on impact and police have reported that none of the children were in a child restraint or wearing a seat belt. The children have been hospitalized with injuries ranging from serious to critical.
One of the adults has been hospitalized in critical conditionn, while the other three were also hospitalized. Their conditions are listed as fair to serious.

DUI charges are pending against the driver.
