Topeka Woman Killed after Being Hit by Several Cars on I-29 in Kansas City

A 25 year-old Topeka, Kansas woman was hit and killed while on foot on Interstate 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The fatal pedestrian-auto accident happened on June 8, 2011 around 4:15 a.m. According to Kansas City Police, the woman was trying to cross the highway at Tiffany Springs Parkway and was struck by oncoming traffic. It is believed she may have been struck by as many as six different vehicles.

The woman has been identified as 25 year-old Menina Jones from Topeka, KS. Eye witneeses say they saw Jones walking along the highway in a short dress and heels. One Kansas City motorists said he had hoped to get to work in time to call police to let them know of the woman, stumbling along the highway.

"I noticed a young lady on the side of the road, walking the edge of the road, and she looked like maybe she might have been drinking a little, staggering," the witness said. "I didn't know if it was the shoes she had on, it looked like high heels shoes, a short dress, maybe she was out partying."

It has been reported that by workers at a nearby Embassy Suites that Jones had been in the hotel just minutes before the accident, where she had asked to use the phone to call a cab.
