Toyota Motors recalls Lexus models, halts sales for parts shipments

On Monday, representatives wih the Toyota Motors, Co. announced that they will halt sales on some versions of the 2009 and 2010 Lexus models because of a problem in the vehicles' steering computer processor.  The malfunction causes the steering wheel to briefly shift out of alignment with the wheels when it is turned too hard to the right or left and then quickly re-centered.  Dealerships are expected to start receiving the proper components in mid to late June.

The move comes just a few days after Toyota issued a re-call on the LS 460 and LS 600h sedans in the United States.  The recall is expected to affect nearly 4,000 vehicles.  The company has already re-called another 4,500 Lexus sedans from Japan and other parts of the world to fix the same problem.
