Tractor-trailer overturns on Missouri 291, injures two

Two drivers were injured when a tractor-trailer overturned on Missouri 291 in Independence.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 just after 10:00 a.m. The driver of the semi truck attempted a right turn at a traffic signal at Missouri 291 and Frontage Road. Independent police say the driver was going too fast and the big rig tipped over striking three vehicles that were stopped for a red light in the eastbound lane.
The driver of the 18-wheeler and the driver of the first car were taken to the hospital where they were treated and released. No one else was injured.
The accident is under investigation. Officials expect that charges will be filed against the truck driver.
