Two Infant Deaths Leads to Forced Shut Down of Kansas Day Care Center

The state of Kansas has forced a shut down of Kathies Kidz Day Care Home in Paola, KS. after it was discovered the operator was running the day care illegally during an investigation stemming from two infant deaths this year.  Owner Kathie Browning volunarily shut down her center over the summer after the death of a 3 month-old child.  Another child, a 4 month-old, died of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) in April.  At the time, Kathies Kidz was caring for 16 children including 5 infants.

An investigation was launched into the child's death over the summer and Browning was allowed to continue to care for child relatives.  A complaint agains the center last week alerted state officials she was once again operational and has now been forced to close her doors for good.
