Two year-old child critically injured in drunk driving crash in North Carolina

A drunk driving hit-and-run motor vehicle collision in North Carolina sent a child and two adults to the hospital with serious injuries on Sunday January 9, 2011.  The drunk driving accident happened on Fairfield Road in High Point, North Carolina.  According to police, 40 year-old Jamie Kennedy was driving a Toyota Corolla when he crashed into another vehicle.  A 2 year-old girl suffered critical injuries in the crash.  The other occupants, identified as the girl's grandparents also were seriously injured, although their injuries were considered non-life threatening injuries.

Kennedy, who was drunk at the time, fled from the scene following auto injury accident, but was later apprehended by High Point police.  He faces several charges including driving while impaired, three counts of hit-and-run, driving with a revoked license, failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony serious injury by a motor vehicle.
