Violent head-on collision in Leavenworth County claims 3 lives

Three people were killed in a violent car accident in Leavenworth County, Kansas on Sunday October 10, 2010.  The fatal crash happened on Kansas Highway 32 when one vehilce, traveling east on the highway tried to pass another car and ended up colliding head on with a third vehicle, which was heading west.

According to officials from the Kansas Highway Patrol, all three people were killed in the crash.

"It looks like it was a very violent crash," Lt. David Porter of the Kansas Highway Patrol said on the tragic crash. "At least highway speed, if not faster. "Seat belts were used in one of the vehicles, but the impact was so tremendous and powerful, it wasn't able to do any good."
