Warrant No Longer Needed to Blood Test Suspected DUI in Platte County

Residents in Platte County, Missouri will be facing some interesting changes if they get pulled over and suspected of driving under the influence. Police can now get a blood sample on site-- no warrant, no questions asked-- if they suspect a driver is operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

Platte County is the first county near the Kansas City Metro to see this new law become a reality. The Sheriff's Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and most cities in Platte County can now demand a blood test for those motorists who refuse a breathalizer test. The law has gone into effect as of July 1, 2011.
