If the Texas Senate passes a new legislation, speed limits in Texas could hit upward of 85 m.p.h. on some major highways. The Texas House has already approved a bill to raise speed limits on some highways to 85 mph during the day. If it passes, major engineering and traffic studies would need to be conducted. The state of Texas already has more several highways with speed limits up to 80 m.p.h. The new speed limits would make Texas the fastest state in the country.
