Student Dead After Struck by School Bus

The community in St. Joseph, Missouri is grieving today, after a 16 year-high school student was killed in a tragic bus accident on Monday morning.  The 16 year old student was crossing St. Joseph Avenue on Grand in St. Joseph, MO. at 7:30 a.m. when the bus turned the corner and hit him.  He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of the bus was shaken up as well and claims he never saw the student in the street.  Police made the driver take a breath test to determine if alcohol was involved but the driver passed.  An investiagtion is now pending.

Our experienced Kansas City Child Injury Lawyers have seen far more school bus accident injuries and fatalities this year than we would ever wish to see.  It is important for all motorists to be extra aware of child pedestrians between 7 and 8 a.m. and 3 and 4 p.m. on weekdays when kids are walking to and from school.

We’d like to urgently remind all Kansas and Missouri motorists to practice safe and attentive driving techniques at all times no matter where you are driving.  Pedestrians are far more vulnerable to severe injury and death if they are hit by a car.  That chance for death goes up even more when something as big as a bus is involved.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the friends and family of the 16 year-old victim in this accident.
