Kansas City police are seeking witnesses to a hit and run accident which occured on I-35 near Southwest Blvd on Saturday night around 10 pm. The accident involved a party bus and three other vehicles and left one woman dead.
Jamie Frecks, 26, was celebrating a bachelorette party on a party bus with 15 other women on Saturday evening when she fell out of the emergency exit on the back of the bus and got ran over by three different vehicles on I-35. Only one of the drivers stopped after hitting her.
Police say that drivers should expect delays on Monday afternoon near northbound I-35 between 18th street and Southwest Blvd. KCPD will be investigating the hit and run.
Police will shut down varying lanes on I-35 to investigate the accident scene. They are asking anyone with information about accident or about the two drivers who left the scene to call the TIPS hotline at 816-471-TIPS.
Freck’s family asks that the two drivers who hit Jamie come forward to help investigators.
"If somebody could come forward for the family, somebody knows they ran her over. It's not fair,” Cynthia Matteson, Frecks’ aunt, said. "They had hired someone to make sure they got there safe and returned safe, there was no return, and we'll never get her back.”
Frecks’ family is holding an event at Loose Park on Wednesday to gather donations for Frecks’ fiancé and young daughter. Clothes, formula, and diapers are being requested for a 3-month old girl and older.
