Wednesday August 24th, 2011, a 20-year-old drunk driver with two passengers drove his Chevy Blazer up the lawn at the intersection of Kensington and 43rd street and it launched off the ground into the roof of the house.  The house had eight people inside, but all were in another room watching TV and were not injured.  The driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.  The house was deemed irreparable by the police.

Drunk driving usually leads to serious injuries or death; therefore, it is key that the community recognize the increase in danger presented by drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol.  The laws that exist do not altogether eliminate drunk drivers so it is important to be prepared for the extreme danger.

If you know someone who has a problem with drinking and driving it is important to explain the many options available in the area.  There is always a sober ride willing to give a person a ride home whether it is a taxi, the bus or friends and family.
