My Child Was Touched Inappropriately By His/Her Afterschool Caregiver
The Johnson County home day care center was shut down by the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services department after an investigation revealed the owner was using a riding crop to disclipline kids. Shirley Joyce McClellan, owner and operator of the Shirley Joyce McClellan Day Care home, admitted to the KDHE to using a riding crop as well as her hand to keep children in line. As Kansas and Missouri Child Accident and Injury Lawyers we know how important protecting your child is. Be sure you are doing the proper research when looking for a care giver for your child. Just because they are operating a child care business doesn't mean they are good at what they do. Too often parents are leaving kids with people they barely know, much less trust.
Never feel like you are asking too many questions when interviewing a prospective care giver. Ask about prior infractions, if any. Visit a place more than once. Watch your child interact with teachers and/or caregivers, as well as other children. Try and make a visit during a time when other parents are around as well.
