The United States Army is investigating an accident that happened last week at the City Army Ammunition Plant near Independence, Missouri.  The accident happened on Tuesday March 1, 2011.  Six plant workers were seriously injured in the accident, all of them were hospitalized.  One of the men was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries. 

A spokesperson for ATK, which is an aerospace and defense products company offered no explanation into the cause of the accident, only that it happened on a contruction site at the plant.
