It’s happening. You can see it coming. Everything slows down for a moment but you have no control. You can’t stop it. You are about to be involved in an automobile accident.

Before impact, brace yourself by locking your arms in the 10 and 2 positions on the steering wheel, keeping your wrists locked. Going limp might be your first instinct but it can also result in catastrophic injury. By bracing your body for impact and keeping your body rigid you almost become part of the vehicle. It may not completely protect you, but it will help to minimize damage if not save your life.

If you know you are about to be rear ended or hit from the side keep your head back against the seat and keep looking forward. This can prevent severe whiplash and neck injury you might suffer in a collision.
