James Roswold
Attorney
James Roswold has practiced law since 1990, helping injury victims across Kansas and Missouri obtain justice and rebuild their lives.
His passion for representing the injured began early. As a child, James witnessed his older brother suffer a life-changing injury caused by medical malpractice. What followed were years of surgeries, casts, braces, and the emotional pain of being treated differently by classmates. The toll it took on his brother and parents left a deep and lasting impression.
At the family dinner table, James often listened as his parents discussed the legal battle — the mistakes that caused the harm, the good doctor who tried to repair it, and the attorney who guided them through the process. When the case ended in a mistrial and a settlement for only a fraction of its true value, James saw firsthand how the justice system can both help and fail those who need it most. Those experiences inspired his lifelong belief that the right advocate can make all the difference.
After earning his degree magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and graduating with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law, James began his career at a defense litigation firm, gaining rare insight into how insurance companies prepare their cases. He now uses that knowledge to protect injury victims and level the playing field.
In 1993, James shifted his focus entirely to representing injured people. Two years later, he co-founded a personal injury firm and became a partner in 1999. Fourteen years later, he founded Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys and the Roswold Foundation for Injured Children, inspired by his brother’s journey. James has devoted his career to standing up for the injured and the powerless — joyfully and tenaciously helping those who have been knocked down get back up again.
That same passion shapes the culture of his firm, proudly known as “the home of extreme client delight.” It reflects James’s unwavering belief that every client deserves not only a strong legal advocate, but also genuine care, communication, and compassion throughout their recovery journey.
James has been honored with the 2025 Best in Law Award and continues to serve clients with honesty, empathy, and a relentless drive to deliver justice — and delight — in every case.
