A Kansas City man was killed and three other victims suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in a catastrophic auto injury in North Kansas City on Thursday March 15, 2012. The fatal injury accident happened at 46th terrace and North Brighton Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri around 6:45 a.m. when a silver Pontiac collided head on with a southbound Tahoe.
Here are some tips to help avoid a head on collision:
- Driving While Drowsy/Falling Asleep At The Wheel - if you feel tired, do not continue to drive. Drivers often think they can go on by talking on their cell phone, rolling down the windows, or turning up the volume on the radio. Unfortunately, these strategies end up further distracting an already tired driver and often lead to an accident.
- Driving Impaired Due to Drugs or Alcohol - we all know not to drink and drive or to operate a car under the influence of drugs, but even one drink and some over-the-counter drugs can significantly impact your ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. Don't take the chance if you feel even the least bit impaired.
- Distracted Driving - Cell phones, car TVs, radios, laptops, etc., all lead to drivers being distracted. Operating a motor vehicle is an incredible responsibility and requires the full attention of the driver.
